Indians irrespective of Caste, Color and Creed and Religion, Celebrate 2 National Festivals:
Independence Day on 15th August and Republic Day on 26th January.
Rest all festivals are celebrated by the respective people based on their cultural values and religious beliefs. For e.g Christmas is celebrated by Christians alone and other people wish them.
Ramzan is celebrated by Muslims and other people wish them
Ganesh Puja is celebrated by Hindus and other people wish them
But there is another festival in the Country in the Country which is Celebrated by people of different religions together.
The Festival Name is ONAM, it is celebrated in the State of Kerala and by the people of Kerala around the Globe.
Onam is predominantly a Hindu Cultural Festival but widely celebrated by all people of Kerala.
In Kerala, Onam is celebrated by the people of Kerala to welcome their King Bali Chakravarthy. Bali Chakravarthy comes once in an year to see how prosperous his people are ? To welcome him, the Keralites celebrate this festival.
Why is Onam very different from any other Cultural festival in India. If you ask a Keralite who professes Christian faith and ask him do you celebrate Onam, he will definitely Say,
Yes, we Celebrate Onam it is the cultural faith of our state
If you ask a Keralite who professes Muslim faith and ask him do you celebrate Onam, he will definitely Say, yes, we Celebrate Onam it is the cultural faith of our state.
This shows, Onam is the Cultural Identity of the people of Kerala. Keralites proudly put this on their sleeve. Keralites are seen in every nook and corner of the Country. When Onam comes, all these people join irrespective of the Caste, Color and Religion to celebrate Onam.
Let us name Onam as National Festival of the Country. It is the only Cultural Festival Originated in our Country celebrated by people of all Religions
