We have been hearing this phrase and might have used this phrase in our life.
When ever some one dares to do very big and risky, normally it is said, dont attempt and in regional terms and words, people say, kya bada turum samajhte ho ? నువ్వు ఏమైన తురుం ఖాన్ వా
I have never analysed the reason behind the phrase and consider it as a part of literature. But the phrase has got a part in History. In the history of Indian Independence. 1857 is considered as an important chapter. It was during this time, people fought against the unjust rule of the Britishers. When 1857 is brought into discussion, the first name that comes to everyone's mind is Mangal Pandey, the fire for the fight in the first Independence is raised by him. There are many other revolutionaries who have played an important rule in the fight against the Britishers. Like in Northern part we have Mangal Pandey, there is a person called Turbaaz Khan alias Turrum Khan, who shook the British empire in Southern India. The British have put a reward of about 5000 rupees against his capture. The amount in present currency is more than 50 lakhs.
Turbaaz khan along with another fighter Maulvi was trying to free fellow freedom fighter Cheeda Khan. Cheeda khan was imprisoned by the Britishers for waging a war against them. The present day Women's College in Koti area was a British guest house and Cheeda khan was kept at the place. Turbaaz khan with his team tried but couldn't free Cheeda khan as their weapons were primitive against the advanced weapons of the Britishers.
Turbaz khan was caught and imprisoned. He was tortured to reveal the names and whereabouts of his fellow soldiers but he never revealed. He was then sent to Kaala pani (Andaman Nicobar Jail) but he escaped in the way. Later, he stationed himself in Toopran Village area (present toopran suburb). A fellow soldier leaked information about the brave Turbaz khan and he was killed in the fight. The Dead body of Turbaaz Khan was paraded and hanged in the center of Hyderabad near sultan bazar police station to infuse fear among the public.
Nuvvu emaina Turum khaan va is a popular adage among telugu people
